Welcome at last to the pre-Beta launch of my new website! Just a quick reminder
that it will still be a few days before the new site is 100% up to speed,
but I can assure you that I'm working as quickly as I can.
My thanks to you...
Most of you are already aware of the extremely long hours that have gone into
this project. While many people have asked me to quantify the actual workload,
I honestly have no idea. I do know that in addition to the several years spent
planning and reviewing, the actual coding has taken well over 1,000 hours.
One other point of consideration often forgotten is the amount
of time and energy that has gone into physically acquiring photos and videos for an
entire lifetime - one shutter click at a time.
To say the very least, and through all of my work, I sincerely appreciate the insight,
support, encouragement, and of course all of the help that I have received from literally
hundreds of people over the years in this specific type of endeavour.
A few words about the site...
Anyone and everyone who has ever known me is aware that I'm never without a camera.
Weddings and funerals, home and away, I try to capture it all.
It's no wonder that the new milestone in front of me is assembling "The Largest
personal website in the world!"
Just to give you an idea of what I'm starting with, the site in its pre-Beta launch has
over 19,000 photos, over 40 hours of full quality digital video, and is currently
documented with over 68,000 words in almost a terabyte (1000 gigabytes) of personal data.
Though these numbers may seem large for a single person's website, they are fractional compared to what is in store
for the very near future. With my new software finally in place, there's really nothing
stopping me from finally digitizing my world in its entirety.
