International Antarctic Centre
Christchurch, New Zealand

One of my goals in New Zealand was to find a way to make it down to Antarctica, a place I have longed to go. Tisa and I stopped off at the International Antarctic Centre in Christchurch and though we went through the tourist stuff, I was really just trying to see if I could meet someone there that could give me some information about any programs they might have had.

Needless to say, though I sent email after email trying to get into a program last minute, my requests were denied on account of signing up too late.

Turk Caption(s): [What is this]
The picture appears to be a visual for what workers are required to wear for winter weather conditions. There is a mannequin wearing a very warm, heavy brown jacket with matching brown pants and a red snow cap. Behind the mannequin, there is a board that show clothing that would be worn to work outside in extreme winter weather and each piece is labeled. The pieces on the board are: a red coverall with a hood that has fur around the trim, a red wind jacket that has a black lining, a fleece navy blue neck cover, black liner gloves, tan leather gloves, brown leather mittens, a brown snap on hood, a navy blue wind stopper and deep brown insulated gloves.
