 The Secret Machines Austin, TX Kim and Daniel's friends all came in town during South by Southwest (SXSW) to see their favorite band from New York, The Secret Machines, play at La Zona Rosa. I thought that the Machines were pretty good, but much to my surprise, the DJ that performed just before them, The Cut Chemist, was my personal favorite of the night. The Secret Machines probably would have had a much better show but unfortunately ran into a number of problems. For starters, the previous two performances both ran long and so they probably didn't even get started until after 1am (bearing in mind that the clubs close at 2am). To make it worse, there were all sorts of sound problems at the start of the show. It was still really good, but I'm sure they wished they hadn't been rushed on and off of the stage in such a hurry, especially for the last band of the evening (typically the headliner).
