Bluff Bluff is the very southern most tip of New Zealand, just 15 miles or so away from "The Third Island", Stewart Island. Tisa and I actually tried to go to Stewart Island, first by boat, and then by plane, but we couldn't manage to secure a proper time slot that would get us there and back. I would have to say that was one of very few disappointments on our entire trip, the fact that we never did make it to Stewart Island.
Laura and Jarrod's Wedding Although I didn't know Laura or Jarrod all that well, I actually got invited to their wedding by the bride so that I could be introduced to one of her good friends, incidentally a gorgeous bridesmaid named Kelly. Although we never really went out for whatever reason, I was still flattered and had a great time at the wedding. Fortunately Emerson and Danielle were at the wedding too and so we got to have a grand old time partying together.
Aggressors Soccer Pics Just a bunch of pictures from one of our Aggressors soccer games, and a few additional pictures of us at Wings n' More afterwards.
Some Cessna Pics Just a couple of internal pictures of the Cessna one evening.
Spurs vs. Nuggets Playoffs Being the huge Spurs fan that she is, Tracy wanted to see a playoff game and subsequently got us tickets to one in San Antonio. We sat pretty high up, but the seats were still great.
Putt's Crawfish Boil 2007 This is a collection of photos from Daniel Putt's 2007 Annual Crawfish Boil. The party this year, as with last year, took place in the backyard of his east 10th street house. As always, it was a blast and I got to see plenty of friendly faces that I hadn't seen in years, one of them being Putt's sister, Meredith. Dave G. came in town for the party and invited Gary to go with us to. We left a little earlier than I had intended to, but made up for it by having some drinks at Trudy's north instead.
Jet Boating In Queenstown Though Tisa and I had read about the jet boating trips available, Sean really wanted to take one of the trips and so we all went. The jet boat is basically just a boat that runs like a jet ski. That being said, it is capable of maneuvering in only a few inches of water and can also turn on a dime. The jet boat operators typically perform 360's and the like.
Headed To Queenstown One of the first things that we did with Sean was travel to Queenstown. This was the first time we had ever had troubles with our new car, Sparkle Motion, and by the end of the trip, our car was entirely dead. All the same, we did have a great time on the trip.
Maori Cemetery When we finally decided to leave Auckland in Campy, the first stop that we made happened to be at this Maori cemetery. We found it particularly interesting how the cemetery seemed quite different from one that we would be more accustomed to.
Lake Taupo This was the first place that Tisa and I stopped on during our camper van trip. It was the first time that we had actually gotten to meet some of the local Kiwis and finally experience the countryside of New Zealand that we had been told about. The following was written by Tisa while on the road: Lake Taupo- (population: 21, 040) This city is home of New Zealand's largest lake which was formed by one of the biggest volcanic explosions that erupted 25,000 years ago. Lake Taupo is known as the world's trout fishing capital. All NZ's rainbow trout descend from a single batch of eggs brought from California's Russian River nearly a century ago. In the month of April, international trout-fishing tournaments are held here! We spent our first night here in our new camper van home! The camp park was located on Waikato, New Zealand's longest river. The Waikato River feeds into Lake Taupo and also flows right through the Huka Falls. Our stay at the town of Lake Taupo was very memorable. We especially enjoyed the company of Rob (see picture), an employee out at Taupo Motor Camp. He made the wonderful suggestion of visiting Craters of The Moon and Huka Falls (also see pictures). Overall, our impression of the town was that it was very calm and peaceful, had friendly locals and great scenery! This would be a fantastic place to have a vacation house or even live if you don't mind the slow pace lifestyle.
