Paris From Tracy and Katie's blog: We adjusted to Paris rather quickly yesterday and went to the Louvre last night. The museum grants free admission to everyone under 26 on Friday nights, so we felt very travel smart as we enjoyed 3 hours of mummies, artifacts, and of course, Mona. After our visit to perhaps the best museum I have ever seen, Tracy informs me that for dinner she wants some "pomme frites." In France, as you may already know, that you don't have to call the fries French. After our dinner we headed back for a rest and hit the Montmartre quarter for the flea market today. Then we walked to the Moulin Rouge, The Sacred Heart Basilica, and a cemetary whose headstones include Proust, Oscar Wilde, Chopin, and Jim Morrison. Guess whose headstone had the most security? Apparantly, Morrison's fans have been a bit rowdy over the years and now there is a guard as well as a code of conduct leaflet outlining the rules for visiting his remains. I wonder how Jim feels about these restrictions. Keep reading for one more day of Paris excitment!
Out With Katie and Mav We met up with Katie and Mav for some Trudy's Central and then headed over to Hyde Park afterwards for a few more drinks. Apparently Mav is friends with one of the manager's at Hyde Park and so we got to stay after hours. It was amusing to run the bar.
Strolling Around at KGTU Tracy and I had a few hours to burn and so I suggested we take a short drive up to KGTU (Georgetown). Unfortunately, as always, there really wasn't any traffic when we were there, but it was still fun. I think we wound up seeing one Cessna on a short final.
Random Prairie Knoll Shots Not a whole lot to this album. Just a handful of random pictures that were taken. There's a few pics in here of me sporting one of the new outfits Tracy bought for Genevieve.
Axel Lane Overgrown I just stopped by Axel Lane one afternoon after a day of flying to see how things were looking. As you can see by all of the pictures, the place certainly gets pretty grown over in the late summer months. I got to take a couple of interesting shots by climbing up up on JC Hall's dump truck.
Jack the Snake Tracy's class had the privilege of getting to keep a corn snake with them for a week or so. The little guy went by the name of Jack and was a hoot to play with. I got to go up to the class one day after the kids were gone and play with him for an hour or so. I haven't had a lot of experience with snakes and while I'd imagine they get boring after some time, it was at very least interesting to handle a snake for awhile.
Austin City Limits 2007 Tracy and I got tickets to go to this years ACL festival, and unlike many years in the past, this one was actually pretty comfortable to be at. Hot, but no sweltering heat and certainly no dust storms. We didn't wind up going on Friday afternoon, but instead went for most of the day on Saturday, and the afternoon to evening on Sunday. I say this as nicely as I can, while I love Bob Dylan, his headlining performance had to be the worst I'd ever seen in my life.
Mueller Photos Just some more photos from out in the Mueller Community. Dreux headed out there with me so that we could see exactly where our respective properties were going to be. As it happens, pretty close to one another. Amy met us out there after she got out of the hospital and took Dreux home for me.
Flying at Lockhart (50R) After just a few solo hours under my belt, I took the plane down to Lockhart one afternoon and had Tracy meet me there so she could snap off a few pictures. Most of the photos were taken when I was refueling the plane, but she also got a few videos of me landing and taking off.
Graham White Elephant Party This was one of the many great parties held by the Grahams. It was a little bit different than it had been in previous years due to the fact that there were three little babies running the show. I wound up getting a steal (literally as far as White Elephant gifts go).
