Miss Adams' Students Tracy took my camera to work one day and snapped some pictures of her class. Unfortunately I can't remember any of their names or I would tag the photos so they could find themselves!
Kim and Daniel's Wedding As Kim liked putting it, it had been 19 months in the making, but the wedding finally came. ...and subsequently went. The ceremony was on the gallery level of the Hobby Center in Houston - a three story view out of a five story building. After the wedding ceremony itself, there was a one hour mini-party on the floor below, and then the full reception the floor before that. All of the floors could be seen from the ground floor (so the 2nd and 3rd floors acted more like balconies). It was actually a pretty spectacular place to host such an event. I had the privilege of performing before the wedding, while the bride walked down the aisle, and after the precession. The presenting of the bride song was called "I'll Catch You" by the Getup Kids. As my mom has reminded me, this wedding is now the nicest I have attended.
The Lucy I've never actually been to one of these before, but evidently a Sip n' See is the new buzz-style party on the block? This was the opportunity to finally see the new Zittrer baby, and take down a few cocktails while you were at it. I was personally interested in seeing my little friend Bethany, but her new sister was something to look at too.
The New York Trapeze School So definitely one of the more interesting things I've done in a good while. Tracy set up Eric and I taking lessons at the New York Trapeze School (on the West Highway and Houston). The lessons started off a bit slow, but once we got to start swinging from 30 feet in the air, it quickly became a fantastic excursion. I won't lie, my abs hurt pretty badly the next day from having to pull myself up on the swing time and time again. I would definitely recommend anyone try their money at Trapeze School. For the record, there are a ton more pictures but I have to get them from Eric and Amy.
Tube Kujda 2008 River Pics To our dear friend Mr. Jason Kujda, thanks once more for putting on a spectacular event for all of us. As promised, the bus departed just around 10am and made it to Abbott's Tube Rentals with only one stop in between. Everything was lined up for us completely ready to go and of course Kujda had the beer and mini-coolers handy for everyone just as he had promised. The river trip was particularly enjoyable with the group we had. Surprisingly everyone managed to stay together, even through the 'rapids' and such. Had I not accidentally been [album=543]stabbed through the hand[/album] with a pocketknife as we ended the trip, I would say that the trip couldn't have gone any better for me. Unfortunately, I was rushed away to the hospital so that I could be [photo=22014-543]sutured up[/photo].
My Last Day in LA For my last day in Los Angeles (for this trip at least), Liz and I had breakfast with our old high school buddy Eric Pirooz. This was followed by a most spectacular afternoon at one of the country's best art museums, The Getty. Having never been there before, I was certainly impressed with the place. To anyone who is interested in going, be advised that while the museum entrance is free, they essentially force you into paying $20.00 to park.
Marnie in Austin I hadn't seen Marns in almost 5 year when she called me one evening and told me that she'd be making her way from Canada to Austin. Needless to say I was pretty thrilled that she was making it into town. We went on a few adventures around Austin (though it was a little chilly out for any real outdoor activities) and then had a night on the town. Included in these adventures were visiting Casa de Luz, Barton Springs, Austin Karaoke, West 6th Street, and my office on Congress Ave. Marnie also discovered that she was not completely incompetent in a wheelchair.
A Snail in my Garden These two little critters were sitting on my front stoop one morning and so I took a good handful of shots of them with the Canon macro setting. I was pretty impressed how such a small pocket camera was able to take such good macro shots. Definitely no SLR, but pretty solid.
NASA Scrubbed STS-129 One of many days that DaveG and I made it out to KSC in an effort to see the launch. We got all the way down to the 9 minute holding pattern on the clock before the launch was eventually scrubbed due to inclement weather. It was very disheartening to say the least, especially as we just sat around out there for hour after hour hoping that it wouldn't get scrubbed. Of course, we still made an evening out of everything and met up with Rymo and the boys downtown.
Mueller Alphabet Game I got this idea from one of Dave G's friends in the Fort Worth area. It's just a simple online scavenger hunt whereby people have to identify the sign that accompanies each letter that I display. So perhaps we take an A from "jAmba Juice" and then a B from "Brookstone" and etc. Unfortunately I got a little too busy and never found the time to actually run the game!
