A Mueller Towel Taken Hostage Kathy Sokolic had lent me one of her beach towels (after we went swimming) and I forgot to give it back. I was just setting up a little photoshoot so I could send her a card claiming it as a hostage.
Florida Music Festival This was the first time that Ryan had a bunch of advertising for his record label in the Florida Music Festival. It was pretty impressive going to all of the different clubs and seeing his label as one of the primary sponsors.
Axel Lane Trash There is nothing more annoying to me than finding out that people have been dumping trash on my property. This particular occurrence happened to be one of the worst days I'd ever come across.
Stripping my Saturn Down One of the problems that I've always had with my Saturn is that I am unable to clean in between all of the little plastic spaces. In an effort to combat this and finally clean my car, it occurred to me that the only real way to do this would be to remove the entirety of the center console, remove the passenger seat, and anything else in between. These photos are the results.
Tracy and Heather Women's Race Tracy and her friend Heather entered a women's race out in Cedar Park. It was one of those multi-part races that has some oddities to it. The first part required people to get across water in whatever type of inflatable transport they felt would be best suited for it. That was followed by a several mile run, and then finally an obstacle course at the very end. I sat around with the Adams family (and especially my buddy Bethany) and shot some photos of the madness.
Flying with Ben Caroline's brother, Ben, is a pilot and oddly enough trained in one of the same planes that I trained in (N4951A). He and I took an afternoon trip out to Llano and enjoyed some delicious Cooper's BBQ.
The Dallas Landfill This was a pretty cool expedition. Dayna volunteers at the Dallas landfill (the city dump) and was able to take me on a tour of the place with one of her coworkers. I wasn't able to take too many pictures at her request, but it was pretty fascinating seeing mountains of garbage being worked by heavy machinery. The smell is not exactly what you'd think it is. It's almost a sweet kind of smell and I think is really only offensive because you're inhaling it with your mouth and mentally thinking about what you're doing.
Cherry Picking Axel Lane I really wanted to see what the potential view would be like from out on Axel Lane and so Preston and I rented a cherry picker to find out. Wouldn't you know it turned out to be one of the windiest days Austin had experienced in months. Much to his credit, Preston was no even fazed by the basket weaving back and forth. On the other hand, and despite not being afraid of heights at all, I was terrified being in the thing.
Another Trip to Orlando This was one of my many trips to Orlando in hopes of seeing the space shuttle launch. Unfortunately, and like so many before it, the shuttle launch was scrubbed both days due to mechanical problems. But the trip wasn't in vain. Rymo got us VIP passes to a number of concerts at House of Blues, we played a great round of "Ludlow Golf", did lots of drinking all over town, and also got to meet some new people - Carly and Roxanne - my favorite new couple in Austin.
Introducing Juliette LaViolette After many long months of waiting (about 10 to be precise), Juliette LaViolette was finally born. I was one of only a few people in attendance at the hospital, of course trying to keep my goal up of seeing my friend's kids born. Dreux thought it would be funny to wear his iconic Roe vs. Wade shirt to her birth. I think it was obscure enough that none of the nurses got the joke.
