Art Science Gallery With Adrienne working at the Art Science Gallery, I popped in for Earth Day to see all sorts of events kicking off and to take a good look at one of the new Teslas. I especially loved all of the hanging object art made from recycled metals.
Campaign Meeting Prep Just a few pictures I took at one of the campaign meetings. A few people went over to the Nomad Bar after. I tagged along and shot some photos of the signs up in the bar.
B-Rad's 39th at the W I was so happy when I found out that my old friend Brad Parker had moved back to Austin with his partner, Be. For Brad's 39th birthday Be rented out the pool deck at the W, flew in a musician from Oklahoma that Brad loved, and had the W cater a fantastic dinner to about 20 of Brad's friends. Just after we cut the birthday cake the sky absolutely opened up and we experienced one of those famous Austin storms of hail and fury from god. Short story: It was an amazing party.
Random iPhone Pics Since getting my iPhone in 2015 I have genuinely gotten back to snapping as many photos as I have previously been accustomed to. The Android cameras I have gone through have been mostly terribly. Steve Jobs definitely got this one aspect right.
Flying to Brenham My buddy Steve Haskett was kind enough to invite me on a flight with him to Brenham and ultimately to College Station. Having not flown in some time, I was delighted to join him. Steve let me navigate through the clouds for about 20 minutes, one of my favorite views in the sky!
Postcard Project In the fall of 2013 I got the idea to create a giant postcard collection for my walls. The postcards are a certain type of vintage linen material that was more commonly used in the 40s and 50s. The collection is a "Greetings from XXX" from every single state in the United States. Sadly it took me almost 18 months to bring the project to fruition, but I'm never one to stop.
T-Bird at the Empire Control Room T-Bird and the Breaks played the second part of the CD release weekend party at the Empire Control Room. I went with my friend Claire and met up with my other friend Whit (and of course Carly and Roxanne). This was probably one of the best rehearsed and best sounding performances I've ever seen these guys put on. It was an amazing show!
My New Telecaster It's been about 10 years since I've owned my own electric guitar. I've always wanted a Telecaster and finally bought one.
My Tattoo I've been meaning to get a tattoo of a certain logo of mine for years. In my effort to do something 7 nights per week this year I dedicated one of those evenings to this venture. Carly and Roxanne introduced me to a tattoo artist named Mig who did exactly what I wanted. The hard part was coming up with the mathematical formula that precisely created the image I wanted.
Shanghai River Cruise My friend Abel has a sister who lives in Shanghai and she suggested that we take one of the river cruises. We did and since she had never been on it before, we took her along with us. The river cruise was absolutely beautiful and we couldn't have picked a better night to explore the Bund area.
