St. Patrick's Day in LA I actually went out to a party at my old friend Kai's house. After partying with he and all of his friends for a couple of hours, I drove back over to Los Feliz and stayed out after hours at the Dresden (as I so often did).
East Side Boil 2010 I flew in with Liz from Los Angeles just so that we could attend the annual East Side Boil. This was probably the most comprehensive and longest boil that we have ever had. After hours of eating crawfish and drinking beer in the sun, the party was moved to Shangri-La in east Austin where we had a host of pizzas delivered to the bar. Once the bar started closing down around 2am, we moved the entire party up to Austin Karaoke in north Austin.
Party at Neil Patrick Harris' As it turns out, Neil Patrick Harris (aka: Doogie Howser) is one of the producers of the show that Liz works on. He wanted to have a little appreciation party out at his house and boy was that a nice party. He and his partner's house overlooks all of the hills of Los Angeles. The party was catered with all sorts of delicious food and had a fully staffed bar.
Dinner with the Mannions One of the people that Liz had been dying to see for quite sometime was Brian Mannion. I hadn't actually seen him in a few years, and it had been even longer since I had last seen Deidra. They invited us over to their beautiful ranch house out in old Katy for dinner, drinks, and some light conversation. We couldn't stay too late, namely as Deidra was very pregnant at the time and probably needed some rest.
Smashing Pumpking at Stubbs I had been telling Dreux that if he managed to pickup tickets to the Smashing Pumpkins show, that I would happily pay for one of the tickets and go. He came through. I had not seen the Pumpkins play since the late 90s (over a decade at this point) and was genuinely curious to see how they'd sound. While the ending of the show kind of sucked (namely with Billy Corgan going into a 20 minute jam), the opening hour was fantastic. They went through their hits one by one to an extremely enthusiastic audience.
Drinking at Lee Harvey's Me, Dreux, and Joe met up with Dayna and Nick at Lee Harvey's. Dreux and I were in town for the Texas vs. OU game the next morning and I hadn't seen either Nick or Dayna in years. Joe got pissed at Dreux because after we'd spent about $20 in quarters trying to beat the high score on Galaga, Dreux didn't put a quarter in the machine quickly enough to continue our game.
Trip to Galveston The Houston crew organized a little trip to Galveston and invited me. I came into town, stayed with Kujda, got rip-roaring drunk, and otherwise had a great time trying to pick up two Brazilians on the beach parked next to us.
5th Grade Graduation On our last day of 5th grade from Pattison Elementary (Katy, TX), and just before starting junior high, the teachers put together a full elementary graduation. The graduation was essentially a day-long party of nationball (essentially dodgeball but with a single giant rubber ball) and then a formal celebration in the library. As a side note, unfortunately a number of the photos in this roll got double-exposed and so they're a bit funky.
Nigel's Audition Outfit Liz's friend, Nigel, was auditioning for some sort of cross-dressing role and needed some help with an outfit. Liz helped him to get dressed up, applied some makeup, and sent him on his way as a woman.
