Capitol Panos I decided to take some panos with my new digital SLR camera. They came out a little overexposed.
Wesley High School Graduation I've known Tiffany for a very long time now and as a result have also known her son for a very long time. I think I first met him when he was 8 or 9. I was very proud of him for graduating from high school and extremely happy and proud of Tiffany for raising such a smart and interesting young man. I'd always promised I'd make his graduation and am certainly glad I followed through with that promise. It was really great to see him finish school after all of these years!
Putt Baby Shower and Crawfish Boil With little Putt on the way, Daniel and Maria had a crawfish boil at a rented pad in Memorial Park of Houston. It wasn't quite the boil that he's traditionally had in the past, but nor was it the typical kind of baby shower. Aside from it being pretty hot and humid, it was an especially nice mix of friends and food. Evan crafted a crawfish we lovingly called CrawLigula.
Making Claire's BDay Gummi Bears For my friend Claire's birthday, Adrienne and I made her 3 tubs of vodka-soaked Gummi Bears. We used three different types of vodka in hopes of seeing a difference. The bears were super strong. To anyone wondering, they keep growing larger and larger as they swell with vodka. I'm told that they will just keep absorbing it until they become huge and so it's important to measure out how much vodka one wants to use.
Libertarian Party State Convention After getting through the precinct and county levels, I was elevated to a State Delegate for the Libertarian Party of Texas. The convention started off with an open carry around Temple. This immediately led to friends of mine thinking it was some sort of large gun rally rather than a party convention, but what can you do? The convention itself was tons of fun. I am especially proud to say that I was able to help change the platform language so that it is very inviting to foreigners (most notably Mexicans on the southern border of Texas). I was also selected to go to the National Convention in Ohio in June.
Justice for Jacob Lavoro There is a guy living in Williamson County, Texas who was charged with selling pot brownies and faces from 5 years to life in prison. I had the pleasure of meeting him a few weeks back and also happened to attend a rally in his honor at the Georgetown courthouse. I was happy to see so many people show up and express their discontent for the situation. I can only hope that the justice system removes Jacob from their cross-hair, but even if they do this should serve as a reminder to how backwards the State of Texas and many other parts of the United States are. The justice system of the United States is a joke at very best and anyone who would spread the platitude that America is the number one country in the world, or the "best" country in the world is simply not examining all of the facts.
Campaign Billboard #2 This was the second billboard that we had installed for the TX House campaign. After the various successes with Reddit, I thought we should give something back to their community and thus we used one of our three lines just to thank them for helping us get started in politics! So to anyone who might come across this, thank you /r/bitcoin/!
Foot Golf With the modern decline of golf courses, apparently some of them have taken to installing giant pins and allows for a new game called foot golf. The rules are identical to golf only instead of hitting a golf ball, you kick a soccer ball. It turned out to be tons of fun and some how or another I wound up shooting 3 under par on my first try.
Brunch at the Plant As part of their last day of festivities with the Michiganders, Mark and Dana had a brunch out at the Plant. Adrienne and I had the pleasure of bringing Carly, Roxanne, and their lovely little son Dylan.
LP National Convention Texas Party Evidently one of the traditions of the convention is for Texas to throw a huge party. We definitely came through on that tradition. Pat Dixon and Rick Perkins worked to arrange a room, a bar, and a karaoke machine (the latter I think Ben Farmer rigged up with some sound equipment and a laptop). We had a huge portion of the delegation show up including the esteemed former presidential candidate, Gary Johnson.
