Johnny Taco Artwork photo 30616 668 300 right Me with the real Johnny Taco he s on the left photo I ve been working on a small project out here in Los Angeles called Johnny Taco with a friend of mine Manny Ruiz Basically it s a mobile restaurant idea that only sells breakfast tacos since the breakfast taco is evidently not sold in Los Angeles If you re from Los Angeles and you say to yourself isn t that the same as a breakfast burrito it s not Anyway there is a guy by the name of Jamie Oliff who painted all of the artwork at the Dresden and I asked him if he would do the artwork for us The idea was to have a caricature of Johnny from the Dresden holding a taco I like where he s going with this As a side note I added in all of the restaurant esque stuff photo 35938 740 520 left Johnny Taco in all of his glory photo
Challenging Dawnna Dukes to a Local Debate As an active and enthusiastic candidate for the Texas House of Representatives in District 46 I would love the opportunity to debate 19 year incumbent a href https www facebook com dawnna dukes2 Texas State Representative Dawnna Dukes a In order to get people interested in the idea I have created a video challenging her to join me in a debate or at least an organized panel discussion I would love your help getting a href https www facebook com dawnna dukes2 her and her campaign team a to watch it The Democrats have been incredibly angry with Greg Abbott for being unwilling to debate Wendy Davis I agree with them on this position and think it speaks volumes to the character of Republicans On the same principle I hope that Dawnna Dukes will consider debating me We have a number of significant differences between us and I think people deserve to hear those differences In fact in regards to Abbott backing out of the debate Ms Dukes a href http www austinchronicle com daily news 2014 08 29 abbott cancels tv debate with davis released the following statement a How can you be a former justice and an attorney general and not be a debater Hopefully she will apply the same reasoning to herself iframe width 520 height 293 src www youtube com embed O0_Qw0BxpBs frameborder 0 allowfullscreen iframe

Guitar Tablature Guitar Introduction I was just messing around with some melodic finger plucking and happened to come up with this I threw it into GarageBand and applied some very light effects to it Although it might sound like there is a bass guitar in it I just turned the bass up very high on my LC2 Sonoma and ran with it You can listen to the song here a href files music Intro_20060424 mp3 Intro_20060424 mp3 a pre style font size 10px line height 8px e B 3 3 3 3 3 3 G 2 4 2p0 2 0h2p0 0h2 D 0 0 0 0 0h2h4 0 A E e B 3 3 3 3 3 3 G 2 4 2p0 2 0h2p0 0h2 D 0h2h4 A E 3 3 3 3 3 pre
Framing the Interior I only snapped a few photos of this process but the easiest way to build out a bus conversion or RV is to frame it with dry 2x4s The entire floor already sits on 3 4 ply so it s a pretty trivial process not unlike the second story of a home I used Google Sketchup to model the bus and create a basic layout of what I was going for This in turn allowed me to figure out exactly how much wood I needed to use for the various areas Normally I wouldn t care so much but the biggest concern with this project or any vehicular project is with respect to weight Fortunately I ve calculated the entire conversion shouldn t weigh more than 500 pounds figuring that dry 2x4 is about 1 5 pounds per board foot That might seem like a lot at first but it s considerably lighter than all of the steel framing rubber flooring bench seating fans and A C units that have already been removed from the bus It also factors the new portable A C unit TV and stereo The net result should be slightly lighter than the original photo 258588 258221 0 center After I got the drivers side framed out photo photo 258586 258221 0 center The next day after I got both sides framed out You can see from further back that the driver s side looks angled a bit This is true but fits the contour of the bus photo

Skydiving San Marcos In February of 2001 I bought my then girlfriend Dayna McKay something unique for her birthday The thought was something that we could both do something that she had been wanting to do and something adventurous As the title no doubt suggests I got her a skydiving package in San Marcos Texas She sat on the gift certificate for several months until over the summer of 01 she finally decided that we would make the trip down there and jump It took 30 minutes to drive to San Marcos 4 hours to sit around and train and about 4 minutes to fall from 12 000 ft in the sky strong Getting Prepared strong photo 252157 704 300 right Dayna and I getting ready to make our jumps photo Dayna and I arrived sometime around noon on the 28th of July at the facility in San Marcos After the initial greetings and watching a few people make their descents we decided that it was time to get in gear in this case literally We began going through the 30 or so minute training course that ultimately prepares you for what you are about to experience They show you very basic drills such as how to hold yourself in the air how to prepare for landing and small drills in between strong Making the Jumps strong To anyone who has never tried skydiving I would highly advise it As far as a quick rush it s most certainly up there Oddly enough however I found that the ride down on the parachute was actually more exciting than the initial free fall This was mostly in part to the fact that it was considerably more controllable and I could force myself into a number of sideways G forces by playing with the parachute strings My tandem master Jeff was pretty good at letting me do more or less whatever I wanted to do with the chute and I think appreciated my fearless attitude Dayna s ride down was considerably more interesting than was mine Her freefall went about the same as anyone elses might however when it came time to pull the parachute their was some sort of failure Apparently the chute popped out but a number of the strings had crossed and her tandem master knew that they were falling much too quickly to make a safe tandem landing He did what he could for awhile but in the end decided that he was going to have to cut them free with his knife and pull the reserve chute before it was too late As Dayna told me when he began pulling out his knife a swift gust of wind swept through and the strings naturally seperated themselves They were way off target but otherwise made a safe landing strong Notes on the Video strong I have included a video of this particular event that was made by Skydive San Marcos The videographer was Kyle The capture is a little choppy and as soon as I can get a faster card I will redo the video iframe width 420 height 315 src http www youtube com embed L3gxICwRXrU frameborder 0 allowfullscreen iframe
Alive April Chase Alive April Chase is the first movie I ve ever shot on actual film The film is being shot for my RTF314 class on a Super 8 reel strong Script strong Open with computerized credits three o three productions presents hold and fade a film by Kevin Ludlow hold and fade Alive fade April fade Chase hold and fade SCENE 1 the printing press Opening shot takes place in the Daily Texan newspaper room A person is sitting at their desk hard a work on a sketch After a few seconds of shooting they get up and walk out of the room cut Begin in the hallway outside of the door and follow them from the front down the hallway with the paper in their hand cut As they walk into the pressroom we are behind them again following along to a table They reach their hand down to the table cut Do a close shot of their hand setting down the paper on the desk and zoom out as they walk off and someone else picks it up The person who picked it up walks it over to the press machine and appears to be laying it for the copying process cut We follow the press machine along and it should appear that we are following the paper that was just put in cut Do a close up of two of three of the machine processes Finally get a frontal shot of the paper coming out of the machine as it slides down the beltway cut Somebody walks in from the other angle and picks up the stack of papers and sets them down on a desk The person leaves the room and the camera walks over to the papers and up above them In this same shot the camera slowly gets closer and closer to the papers from the top until the shot is completely black and out of focus cut SCENE 2 April Chase We zoom out of the blackened paper and as we do it opens to the comic section We pan over on top of a comic strip titled April Chase The April Chase scene is animated in single frame 12fps mode There will be 360 frames shot or 30 seconds of 12fps animation When played back at 18fps this will appear to be a faster 20 second shot of April Chase moving about cut The paper quickly closes itself up and we see yet another person tying up the papers with rope or twine As they do this a light blinds the camera slowly pan a flashlight at the lens cut This shot is the hardest to film because it is so time consuming The camera sits atop the roof for one hour before sunset Every 20 seconds one frame should be shot After one hour of this 180 frames will have been shot or 10 seconds of a time lapsed sunset the flashlight in the previous shot is necessary to make a smooth cut from the dark shot to the sun shot SCENE 3 delivering We see the paper trucks driving out on their way delivering papers to the boxes cut There is a shot of the driver getting into his truck and backing out cut We are in the street as he pulls into the street as well cut We see him at a Daily Texan box dropping off a stack of papers cut and then at another one cut and then at one more scene fades to black to do this completely underexpose the frame one F Stop at a time SCENE 4 reading the comic scene 4 is subject to change We follow one more person as they make their way in the morning Shoot them walking down the street and picking up a Daily Texan from the stack cut As they open the box door of it the camera appears to be inside of the box but is really behind it We see them reach towards us to pick up the paper cut The camera moves out of the way as the person walks over to a bench and opens the paper The camera is steady in front of them as they chuckle just a bit They throw the newspaper down on the bench get up and leave The newspaper is sitting stuck to the side of the bench due to the wind use a fan and a piece of tape on the back of the newspaper for this shot We zoom into the newspaper once more and again see April Chase cut We go back to single frame animation but this seen will only appear to be 5 10 seconds long at 18fps April Chase turns and looks at the camera and shrugs her shoulders at us fade to black cut No Mas fades into the screen THE END
