Groundhog Photo Shoot As a parody of the onslaught of Christmas cards that get sent around, I wanted to send out a Groundhog's Day card to my friends. I tried to rent a groundhog costume from the popular Austin costume shop, Lucy in Disguise, but unfortunately they did not carry any and I had to settle on a woodchuck instead. I contend people would not have known the difference. Unfortunately I never did actually follow through with this idea and instead was just left with an entire album of myself in a woodchuck costume.
Baby Crockett Birthday In keeping with my goal to attend the birth of my friends' babies, I made it up the St. David's with plenty of time to spare to see little Charlotte Marie born. Krista seemed a little uncomfortable at first, but I'm told that everything moved along smoothly and it was a pretty simple birth overall. Welcome to the world Charlotte Marie!
Some of Tracy's Photos Tracy was borrowing my camera for a couple of days and I eventually wound up with the pics. The first batch of photos were taken at Austin City Limits in 2008 with her and some of her fellow teacher friends. The remaining photos look like they were taken by some of her students at Williams Elementary.
Day out with Bethany Tracy and I took Bethany off of her parent's hands for an afternoon and took her to the Austin Children's Museum and then over to the Texas State Capitol. While she is definitely fascinated with the trains at the Children's museum, I think the trip to the state Capitol dome (or the Princess Castle as she refers to it) was much more enjoyable.
3rd Grade Class Picture I was trying to share this picture from my 3rd grade class with a bunch of people, but didn't have a scanner handy. I wound up just taking a picture of it with my Canon and sent it out.
The Baby Tongue The short back story on this is that a couple of days after I came down with tonsillitis, Caroline was checking her throat to see if she'd caught it. She was looking into the mirror with a flashlight and gasped telling me to look at something. I did. I was terrified and yelped a bit. She had a second tongue! As it turns out, it's actually a high-rising epiglottis, but it's pretty damn weird looking.
Walnut Creek with Brewster Caroline and I took her mom and Brewster out to Walnut Creek Park in North Austin. We had been wanting to give Brewster the opportunity to play with the giant exercise ball outside just to see how he would treat it. Sure enough he chased it all over the place, frequently attempting to jump on top of it without much success.
Enchanted Rock with Amy Ivy Caroline and I took her mom out to Enchanted Rock for the day when she was in town. The weather was gorgeous and it was incredibly crowded out there. Fortunately we came from the side of Llano and not of Fredericksburg, so the traffic line wasn't as bad for us. We hiked with Brewster up to the top of the rock, down the back side, and then did the 3 or 4 mile trek around the park.
The Dallas Landfill This was a pretty cool expedition. Dayna volunteers at the Dallas landfill (the city dump) and was able to take me on a tour of the place with one of her coworkers. I wasn't able to take too many pictures at her request, but it was pretty fascinating seeing mountains of garbage being worked by heavy machinery. The smell is not exactly what you'd think it is. It's almost a sweet kind of smell and I think is really only offensive because you're inhaling it with your mouth and mentally thinking about what you're doing.
Canada Day in Montreal Rymo and I met up with Marciano in Montreal for Canada Day (and I suppose also for our 4th of July). It also happened to be the weekend of the Montreal Music Festival and so there were all sorts of things going on. Marciano quickly launched a campaign entitled "Do you know Ludlow", hence my 30 pictures with Montreal's finest ladies. I also thoroughly enjoyed driving one of his many Ferraris, in my case the F1 series Ferrari F-430.
