Corpus trip with Liz After a few days in Austin and then in Houston, Liz and I drove down to my parents house in Corpus Christi and stayed for a little less than 2 days. It was a little cold to really do anything beach-like, but we still did some exploring and had an overall good time hanging with my parents :) My dad even took us up to his new high school and showed us the various projects that he had been working on up there.
Octoberfest 2010 Another successful Octoberfest at the Connolly estate. I was once again invited and made the trip down to Houston to enjoy the weekend with everyone. ...though I'm sure part of the weekend was reserved for Call of Duty with Kujda.
2010 Trip to Vegas #1 On my way back across country to Los Angeles, Putt had told me that he was going to be in Las Vegas. So instead of taking my usual route of I-10, I took the northern route and drove all the way to Las Vegas. I stayed with Putt at the Venetian and had a marvelous time going out and about with all of our friends. I was also a participant in 4 different games of credit card roulette, and fortunately only lost one of them (albeit it was a $300 loss).
The Duke Beachhouse Every year Charlie Duke's family would rent a beach house in Galveston and they'd invite lots of family friends to join them. The summer after our freshman year in college, I was fortunate enough to get invited on that trip. The highlight of the week came when Aaron, Josh, and myself started messing with Nick Walters late at night. We had climbed onto the roof and were shining the flashlight onto him from the skylight as he slept. Of course each time he woke up he'd get angry. This would wake up Charlie who in turn got very angry. Eventually we saw Charlie get up and go outside. We tried to remain hidden, but evidently he was smarter than us. He went downstairs and walked the garden hose into our bedroom and literally flooded our beds with water. It was the single greatest on-the-spot revenge I had been victim to.
Breakfast with the Fishers Since Liz and I stayed at the Fisher's house after the Eastside Boil, we had breakfast with them in the morning. Corky came over from next door and eventually my sister and Daniel came over to get us (they were our ride back to Houston).
Liz's Family in Houston Liz's stepmother's family happens to live right over by Nottingham Country Elementary in Katy (right up the block from where we grew up). We went over there one night to spend some time with them and to enjoy a good meal. I wound up playing Horse with some of her step-cousins. Unfortunately they were much better at basketball than I am.
Houston and Back to LA Before Liz and I flew back to Los Angeles, we went out for a night with old friends Dave G and John G. We had some wine at a little shop and then headed over to the Galbinceas just to spend a little time with them. Earlier in the day Dave G and I had headed out to the gun range off of Westheimer in Katy.
Night out with Beeter During my first summer in Austin, I was often hanging out with my good buddy, David Beeter. One evening some friends and I had a little get together at his house. Putt wound up passing out well before we had time to go anywhere
Essex Target Range The second day we were in Essex, I built a target out of some old scrap wood around Caroline's childhood treehouse. Robbie and I spent a morning blasting targets on it with a 0.22 rifle before turning to clay pigeons with the 20 gauge. I bought a watermelon on Caroline's birthday so that we could take turns shooting it up on the range.
Pearl Jam at Southpark Meadows Me and a handful of my friends borrowed my parents Suburban and drove from Katy to Austin for a much anticipated Pearl Jam show at Southpark Meadows. Most of us stayed with our good buddy Dave Beeter in the Prather dorm (on UT campus). A couple of the girls stayed with Mandy Stuart's aunt in Austin. It was a pretty fantastic voyage.
