Some time around 1986, my grandparents, Howard Thomas Ludlow Sr. and Catherine "Kitty" Ludlow, took a trip to communist Russia. My grandfather, a lover of photography, took somewhere in the vicinity of 400 slide photographs of their trip.
Though it has taken me some time to begin accomplishing the task of digitizing all of his lifetime slides, I have managed to finish all of the image from this particular trip to Russia and subsequently put them on display in this gallery.
Though I only vaguely recall this memory, my grandparents used to have slide shows in the basement of their New Jersey house whenever they returned from a trip. Though it is somewhat arbitrary, I have created albums for this collection of photos to match the slide carousel trays that my grandfather originally had presented to his audience. Additionally, the order of the slides has been arranged in the same manner. For example, photograph 23 of my 3rd Russia collection comes from the 23rd photo of the 3rd tray that my grandfather arranged (each tray holds up to 100 slides).
It is likely that I will apply digital touch-up work to the photos in the future as many of them have become worn down over time, but for now they are exactly as they scanned in (at a resolution of 3600dpi). It should be also noted that due to the nature of slides being viewable from both ends, some of the pictures may be improperly mirrored across the y-axis. I will make these corrections as I find them.
