Ron Paul Advertising In an effort to help promote Ron Paul around Austin, I bought some plywood and spray-paint and proceeded to cut out 2-foot tall letters of Ron Paul. After I cut all of the letters out with a jigsaw I attached stakes on the backs of them and staked them into my yard. A little bit of red, white, and blue paint at a diagonal, and voila, a Ron Paul sign was born. Klaus and I went out onto Hwy. 360 where they put all of the Christmas trees magically get put up each year. We staked the letters into the ground in that area only to find them taken down the next day. Needless to say, we got them back, and hiked atop one of the bluffs on 360 instead where as far as I know, they have been proudly standing since.
Trip to Corpus Christi Tracy accompanied me to Thanksgiving at my parents house in Corpus. On the way there, after hours of traffic, we were so hungry that we decided we had to stop at the next town we came across off of I-37. When we saw some lights, we exited the highway and discovered there was a town by the name of George West just 8 or so miles down the road. This was our first adventure. We also were fortunate enough to cross the Aransas Pass by Ferry the next day with my parents and come across some dolphins. I tried to get some good shots of them, but I'm not sure they came out all too well.
First Completed Mueller House Tracy and I took a ride over to Mueller just a few weeks before the first residents would ultimately move in. The house that we walked through was in fact the very first house to close in Mueller, with people moving into it sometime in mid to late December 2007. There are a few pictures of the 'yard' that are pretty comical to see. I'm not entirely sure why they even tried to have a 'yard' on both sides.
Flat Stanley and a Cessna Tracy asked if I could get a few pictures of Flat Stanley out at the airport for her. I managed to take just a few of them with N4951A.
Iron Rock Raceway at ABIA Anyone who has ever flown in or out of Austin Bergstrom International Airport to/from the north may well have noticed that there appears to be some sort of racing track just next to the runway. I'd been curious about this place for many years and though I guess I could have always explored on my own, was finally fortunate enough to have a reason to go. Tracy and I meet up there for Dave Krewet's birthday with his good friend James Marrs, his brothers, and a few other guys. The place was very cool and though it seemed expensive, in retrospect, it's actually a pretty good deal for the amount of time you get on the track. What was perhaps most interesting is that they required us to wear a full suit of gear and a helmet as the karts that we were racing went between 40 and 50 miles per hour. Apparently the top karts there push 100mph.
Halloween at Williams Elementary I got invited up to Tracy's school to celebrate their annual Halloween party. Tracy was an afro-hippie of some sort, her friend Megan was a train conductor, Paco was a pirate, and I showed up dressed as an airplane. The kids seemed to like the airplane costume but it was awfully difficult to move around with my compulsory 6 foot turning radius.
The Death of Sparkle Motion After our lengthy voyage from Ranfurly, Otago back to Dunedin in our broken Sparkle Motion, Tisa and I needed to find a way to get rid of the car. I tried giving it a way for a few days and even posted some ads on the website I was running in Dunedin, The City Octagon (thecityoctagon.co.nz). After no luck at all, I finally had to call one of the scrap metal places to come and get it. I assumed that they would come and take the car for free, seeing on how they sell off the scrap metal, but I actually had to pay $50.00 NZD. I have never seen a car picked up in this particular fashion. Though it worked out ok, I would hate to have been the one with my car parked under the lift.
Family in Wellington On new years day of 2004, Tisa and the family spent the day exploring Wellington. We started off with a trip up the famed cable car, made our way to the Te Papa museum, and eventually made our way back over the Cook Straight.
Bowling with Klaus and Abbi When Klaus and Abbi had been dating for a few weeks, Tisa and I invited the two of them and Allison and her friend out to Showplace lanes for some competitive bowling action.
My 27th Birthday I organized a pretty large group of people to meet up with me for my 27th birthday. Dave came into town so that we could have a joint birthday party (seeing on how he is just a day younger than I am). I tried to get us into Trudy's, but we were told that it would be several hours before they could seat us all. We instead went to El Mercado down the road and had the back room all to ourselves. After dinner we headed over to the Common Interest on Burnet for some drinks before eventually making it to Sherlock's for some night caps.
