Halifax And for the final leg of our week-long voyage throughout Canada, Ben and I took the Wood Islands Ferry over from Prince Edward Island to the mainland of Nova Scotia and then headed down into Halifax. Halifax is a pretty big city surrounded on a few sides by water. It has an enormous shipping industry as well as a military defense department. One of Ben's friends is studying to be an MD and has an amazing condo 15 stories up into the sky in the heart of the city just next to the Citadel.
LNC Meeting in Phoenix In kind of a rare moment, the Libertarian National Committee decided to have one of their meetings at a resort in Arizona. It was a pretty badass place and I thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with a bunch of political friends who had flown in from all over the country for it. This is also the meeting where I was granted the authority to finally rebuild the atrocious lp.org website.
Panda and a Play Brooke needed some help watching Panda one evening, but at the same time I had a handful of friends coming over to enjoy a Rude Mechs presentation too. I got to enjoy the first half of the evening with little Panda and the second half of it with some friends at a wonderful performance.
Dawn's Final Dinoysium With Dawn moving up to Colorado after she and Kurt's very amicable divorce after 10 years, she went on to do one last performance as the hostess of the monthly Dionysium show.
Phoenix LNC Meeting In a rather rare show, the Libertarian National Committee decided to hold one of the quarterly LNC meetings at a resort in Phoenix, Arizona. I absolutely loved the place and had a really amazing time - in addition to the work we did. Unfortunately Libertarians are generally synonymous with incredibly cheap complainers. I can't imagine the resort was especially thrilled to have us when complaints were lodged with virtually every meal, drink, and perk we enjoyed. All of that said, I had a great time hanging out with the LNC members that I spend most of my time with. I was also elected to be the chair of a committee that would finally rebuild the Libertarian Party's website.
Meeting Dan Levy Devin had gotten some tickets to see one of her favorite comedians, Dan Levy, performing at the Capital City Comedy Club. I didn't know anything about the guy other than him apparently being a super popular snap-chatter. That being said, he was absolutely hysterical and I was a huge fan of his comedy. Devin follows him pretty closely on Instagram and toed the line between fan and stalker. She brought him some "gifts" that he frequently talks about on SnapChat.
Dawn, Kurt, and the Rudes Kurt and Dawn wanted to go and see a Rude Mechanicals performance. Since I sit on the board, I was more than delighted to take them. We hung out at my house for a bit with little Panda, went and grabbed some dinner, and then got to see one of the "Fixing" series performances. It was a pretty kick ass performance.
The Mammoths Carly had randomly met the mother of one of these guys. She told us to check them out and so we did. We're always on the hunt for bands that we can play with.
Kerville Folk Singers My good buddy Claire's parents had some connection to a private party of Kerville Folk Festival performers. They had a massive potluck dinner for probably about 80 people and then five musicians took turns going each telling a short story about one of their songs and then performing it for the crowd. It was a pretty amazing performance and we met lots of interesting and new people.
Kyloe Blue at Kiva Lounge Although we have yet to get paid for this show (a small point of contention), we had a blast playing this show out of town in San Marcos. I thought it was one of our better sets. The crowd was amazing. There were lots of young people out there dancing away and keeping the party going. It was a good night for Kyloe Blue (and especially fun being out of town, even if only San Marcos).
